A major nonprofit needed to transition from a seasoned employee who had been in the job for many years and was looking to retire part-time, and bring in someone new to take over.
To maintain continuity we arranged for a younger woman returning from a maternity leave to job-share the position with the woman transitioning into retirement. The seasoned worker gets to stay on the job while reducing her hours, and the woman with young children gets the work–life balance she craves. And the organization gets two talents for about the price of one. It’s win/win.
